Exam objective
Exam foundation. Learn the operational AWS pattern, the service boundary, and the trade-off language that determines the best professional-level answer.
What you must be able to reason about
75 questions are presented in 180 minutes: 65 scored and 10 unscored.
Multiple-choice and multiple-response questions are used; unscored items are not identified.
The official minimum passing scaled score is 750 on a 100–1,000 scale; it is not a raw 75% rule.
AWS recommends 2+ years of provisioning, operating, and managing AWS environments plus SDLC and scripting experience.

FINAL REVISION
Decision method
When this concept appears in a scenario, work in this order:
Identify the business/operational requirement.
Identify the AWS control plane that owns the requested outcome.
Check the account/Region/trust boundary.
Prefer managed, event-driven, least-privilege automation when the requirement asks for lower operational effort.
Reject answers that technically work but introduce manual steps, long-lived credentials, single points of failure, or unverified recovery.
Command / configuration example
Bash
aws sts get-caller-identity
aws configure list
aws configure list-profiles
What this proves: use the output or resulting resource state as evidence. The exam expects you to choose the correct control plane, not memorize commands.
Scenario exercise
A platform team proposes two solutions. Solution A is a custom script run by an administrator when an alert arrives. Solution B uses the AWS services from this lesson to detect/coordinate the condition automatically, applies scoped permissions, records evidence, and verifies the final state.
Ask yourself:
Which design better satisfies automation and repeatability?
Where could Solution B still fail?
Which metric/log/audit record would prove the automated action worked?
What is the rollback or stop condition?
Common exam traps
Choosing a familiar service that observes the problem but cannot perform the requested control-plane action.
Recommending long-lived access keys when STS roles or service roles solve the trust problem.
Solving a multi-account requirement one account at a time.
Confusing deployment, configuration, monitoring, audit, and compliance services.
Assuming successful API execution proves the end-to-end application outcome.
Explain it aloud
Describe the recommended service/pattern in one sentence. Then name one plausible distractor and explain exactly why it does not satisfy the requirement.
Quick revision
State the service boundary in one sentence.
Draw the architecture from memory.
Name the strongest exam clue for this pattern.
